Our Recipe Tree is operated by Golden Pond Investments Inc ("we", "us", or "our"). Our Recipe Tree is a collaborative recipe platform available at app.ourrecipetree.com. If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, please contact us at info@ourrecipetree.com.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly to us, including:
- Account information: name, email address, and profile photo when you register.
- Recipe content: recipes, photos, videos, stories, and notes you create or upload.
- Payment information: billing details processed securely by Stripe or PayPal. We do not store full card numbers on our servers.
- Communications: messages you send to us via email or support channels.
We also collect certain information automatically, including:
- Log data (IP address, browser type, pages visited, time and date of visits).
- Device information (hardware model, operating system, unique device identifiers).
- Cookies and similar tracking technologies (see Section 9).
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Our Recipe Tree platform.
- Process transactions and send related information, including purchase confirmations and invoices.
- Send transactional emails (e.g. invitation to a Recipe Tree, password reset).
- Respond to your comments, questions, and requests.
- Monitor and analyse usage and trends to improve your experience.
- Detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent transactions and other illegal activities.
- Comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
4. Sharing of Information
We may share your information with:
- Service providers: third-party vendors who perform services on our behalf, including cloud hosting, authentication, payment processing (Stripe, PayPal), email delivery, and file storage. These providers are contractually obligated to use your data only to provide services to us.
- Other users: content you mark as public is visible to other users and visitors. Content in a shared Recipe Tree is visible to Tree members.
- Legal requirements: we may disclose information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities.
5. Third-Party Sign-In (Facebook Login)
You may choose to register or log in to Our Recipe Tree using your Facebook account. When you do, Facebook shares basic profile information with us — specifically your name, email address, and profile photo — solely to create or authenticate your Our Recipe Tree account. We do not receive your friends list, posts, or any other Facebook data.
This sign-in feature is powered by Clerk, our authentication provider. Clerk handles the OAuth flow securely and in compliance with Meta's platform policies. We do not store your Facebook password or any Facebook access tokens beyond what is needed to maintain your login session.
If you signed up using Facebook Login and would like us to delete the data associated with your account, see Section 6 (Data Deletion) below.
6. Data Deletion
You have the right to request deletion of the personal data we hold about you at any time, including any data obtained through Facebook Login.
To request deletion of your data, please email us at info@ourrecipetree.com with the subject line "Data Deletion Request" and include the name and email address associated with your account. We will process your request and confirm deletion within 30 days.
Alternatively, you can delete your account directly from within the Our Recipe Tree app by going to your account settings. Deleting your account removes your personal profile, recipes marked as private, and associated data from our active systems. Some anonymised data may be retained in backups for up to 90 days before being permanently purged.
Please note that content you have shared publicly (such as public recipes visible in our gallery) may need to be individually removed before or as part of the deletion request. We will guide you through this if needed.
7. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with our services. If you delete your account or submit a data deletion request, we will delete or anonymise your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate personal information.
- Request deletion of your personal information.
- Object to or restrict certain processing of your personal information.
- Request portability of your personal information.

9. Cookies
We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to track activity on our platform and hold certain information. You can instruct your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. However, if you do not accept cookies, some portions of our service may not function correctly.

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information against accidental or unlawful destruction, loss, alteration, unauthorised disclosure, or access. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Children's Privacy
Our Recipe Tree is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you become aware that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at info@ourrecipetree.com.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of Our Recipe Tree after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
